Ghana Tackles Climate Change with Reforestation and Renewables
Environmental sustainability has risen on Ghana’s national agenda amid growing climate change impacts. The country faces challenges such as deforestation, flooding, and irregular rainfall patterns, affecting agriculture and livelihoods. In response, the government launched a national reforestation campaign to restore degraded forest areas and increase green cover.
Renewable energy projects, including solar and wind, are gaining momentum to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Ghana is also implementing policies to improve waste management and promote recycling. Collaborative efforts with international environmental organizations have helped introduce climate-smart agricultural practices to support farmers.
Awareness campaigns have targeted communities to encourage conservation and sustainable land use. Despite progress, environmentalists call for stronger enforcement of regulations to protect natural resources.
