President John Dramani Mahama has officially launched the Ghana National Research Fund (GNRF), committing an initial seed capital of GH\u00a2100 million to support research, innovation, and technological advancement across the country. The initiative is being hailed as one of the most significant investments in academic and scientific research in recent years.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the launch ceremony in Accra, the President emphasized that research and innovation remain critical pillars for national development and economic transformation. According to him, countries that have successfully transformed their economies have done so through sustained investments in science, technology, education, and research.<\/p>\n
The newly established fund is expected to provide financial support for universities, research institutions, scientists, innovators, and policy researchers whose work contributes to national development priorities. The President noted that Ghana possesses enormous intellectual potential, but many researchers often struggle to secure adequate funding for important projects.
